Introducing the JHM 4.2L 40v V8 Intake Elbow Heater Bypass Kit.
What does this kit do? From the factory the 4.2L V8 comes equipped with 2 coolant lines that heat up the intake elbow between the throttle body and the intake manifold. Why do they do this? This is a precaution for climates that are colder than 32f. They heat the intake elbow up to warm up the throttle body to help prevent throttle plate icing and a sticky throttle. So by warming up the intake elbow with 200f coolant this won't happen once the car is warm. However this is unnecessary in temps above 32f and only slows your car down by heating up the intake air. And the best part is that it can be installed or removed in only a minute or 2 and can't be seen once your engine cover is installed. This kind of mod has been done on other such cars like Mustangs and Subarus for years. We have found that this modification works great to keep your car faster once warmed up instead of slowing down when the hot coolant begins running through the elbow. With this modification and our JHM intake spacers together the gains are excellent for the money spent.
Fitment: 4.2L 40v (5 valve per cylinder) V8 in the B6/B7 S4 and others with the 4.2L 40v V8.
NOTE: Some of the early 04 models did not have these coolant hoses. Check to make sure you have this before purchasing.
